A driver has been left fuming after being hit with a staggering £580 bill for parking at Manchester Airport for only 20 minutes.
The gobsmacked woman was mistakenly charged the huge sum after dropping off a relative at Terminal One earlier this month, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The motorist who should have been charged £6 following her brief visit on January 2 discovered the next day that a whopping £580 had been removed from her account.
A fortnight later, the 32-year-old woman from Cheshire who wished to remain anonymous said she was still waiting to receive her refund.
She revealed: "It's really frustrating and annoying. They have acknowledged the mistake and apologised but say they can't find the transaction to refund me.
"Luckily, while it's a lot of money, I've been able to get by using savings, but for a lot of people, especially at this time, it would be catastrophic."
An email sent to her by the airport implies the error may have been a result of the parking system not having a record of the driver leaving the car park following a previous visit she made on December 23, meaning she was charged for 10 days worth of parking.
The airport staff have apologised to the customer after an investigation and issued her with a refund as they review their systems to prevent the problem happening again.
Manchester Airport have not commented on the incident.
