Driver escapes with minor injuries after becoming trapped in overturned car in Blyth

A driver has escaped with minor injuries after the car he was in dramatically overturned.

Emergency services were called to Cowpen Road in Blyth, Northumberland, at around 9.40am on Sunday morning.

Police say one man, thought to be the driver, was initially trapped in the black car while a passenger had managed to free themselves.

No-one was seriously injured.

And a North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision in Cowpen Road, Blyth, at 9.40am this morning.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew, a clinical team leader and a specialist paramedic, and transported one patient to hospital with minor injuries."

The road was closed until around 10.50am to allow the damaged car to be uplifted and taken away.
