A driver who tried to evade a £500 Standsted Airport bill ended up having his car seized by police.
Essex Police attended the airport car park after a vehicle became stuck as the driver attempted to drive around the barriers, report Essex Live.
The driver attempted to evade the parking fee of almost £500 by driving around the barriers, police allege.
The force also said that when officers arrived to see what was happening, they also discovered that the driver was disqualified and should have never been driving the car in the first place.
Because of this, Essex Police seized his vehicle.
To make matters worse for the driver, he will still have to pay the hefty parking charge.
Tweeting about the incident, Essex Police at Stansted Airport tweeted: "Please remember to pay for your parking [at Stansted Airport].
"This driver tried to avoid paying, got stuck when driving around the barrier and to top off his bad day.... he was a disqualified driver. His car was seized by Essex Police and he still owes £496 in car parking fees!"
To rack up such a high parking charge, the car would have had to have been parked in the short stay car park for a total of eight days.
The short stay car park charges £62 per 24 hours if not booked in advance.
Meanwhile, airports across the UK have been hit by lengthy queues as people are trying to get away for the summer.
This morning, there were huge queues reported at Manchester Airport.
Pictures showed the queue snaking from Terminal 2 and stretching along the walkway towards Terminal 1 early this morning.
And, last week it emerged Ryanair cabin crew plan walkouts in Europe.
Strikes are set to take place in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Belgium which could impact services on UK routes.
