A pensioner died after a car crashed into a wall.
Emergency services were called to Spur Road at the junction with Halton Brook Avenue in Runcorn at 11.26am on Friday. Several police vehicles and land and air ambulances were at the scene when the ECHO attended a short time later.
Cheshire Police has confirmed the driver of the grey Toyota Avensis, a man aged 81, died “a short time later”. He was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

A passer-by told the ECHO they had seen emergency services trying to give first aid.
Eyewitnesses writing on social media said they had seen the emergency services trying to save the casualty.
One comment said: “I am so sorry. I was at the traffic lights when the crew was there, they did try their best.”
The tragedy prompted a flood of condolences from other residents and social media users.
One person said: “Condolences (to) you and your family. I saw the police officers trying their hardest to save your father.
“I hoped and prayed he would make it. You and your family will be in our prayers tonight “
Another said: “So sad and sorry to hear this.
“Thoughts go out to your brokenhearted family.”
The deceased’s daughter broke the tragic news, saying: “My dad didn’t make it but they did try.”
On Tuesday, a Cheshire Police spokeswoman told the ECHO: “At 11.26am on Friday, February 10, police were called to reports of a collision on Spur Road, Runcorn.
“Emergency services, including air ambulance, attended the scene and found that a grey Toyota Avensis car had collided with a wall.
“Sadly, the driver of the vehicle, an 81-year-old local man, died a short time later.
“His next of kin have been informed.”
A post-mortem is yet to take place.
