The car ended up smashing into the traffic divider in the middle of the road and with such force that a lamppost on the small traffic island was knocked over too. Firefighters from Bedminster attended the scene, and called police.

Bedminster Fire Station later tweeted a picture of the crashed car with the caption ‘you can’t park there, mate’.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said, at 11am this morning, Wednesday, December 28, that the woman arrested was still in custody after being held overnight. "We’re investigating an incident in which a car was in collision with a lamppost and central reservation in School Road, Brislington," he said.
