Driver crashes car into Scots garden before dumping motor and fleeing scene

A driver smashed their car into a Fife local's garden before abandoning the motor and fleeing the scene.

Emergency services were called to Cadham Road in Gelnrothes at around 1.05 am on Saturday, 14 January, following reports of a one-car smash. Images from the scene show what appears to be a green Vauxhaul Corsa lying on the grass with its lights on and door open.

Debris can be seen lying alongside the vehicle after it ploughed through a fence outside the house. Police say they are working to track down the driver, who made off from the area following the crash.

While being shared on social media, one user seemed to imply the incident may have involved 'racing', however this has not been confirmed as of yet. They wrote on Facebook: "Cadham Road race track takes another car down."

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are not known at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 01.05am on Saturday, 14 January, 2023, officers were called to a report of a one vehicle crash on Cadham Road, Glenrothes.

“The driver of the car made off and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.”
