A driver was clocked doing 108 miles per hour (mph) in a 30mph zone in Wirral.
It was one highest speeds recorded by Merseyside Police on roads across the region and was released as part of a Freedom of Information request.
Data shared by the force included the top 10 speeds recorded in each Merseyside borough in 2021.

The highest speed clocked was 118mph in Liverpool on the M62 (westbound) in 2021 while the highest speed in Wirral was also in 2021 when a vehicle was recorded travelling at 108mph in the 30mph zone of the New Chester Road (A41 northbound) and Turbine Road.
In St Helens a driver was recorded travelling at 99mph on the East Lancashire Road between Carr Mill Road and Lady Pilkinton Road, while the highest recorded in Sefton was 107mph on Church Road in 2021.
Some roads in Merseyside appeared more than once on this lists, the M62 appeared the most (nine times) followed by the New Chester Road in Wirral, Church Road in Sefton and the Prescot Bypass.
Commenting on the FoI data Inspector Carl McNulty from Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit told the ECHO: “Our message is clear - there is simply no excuse for speeding and it can have catastrophic consequences on the lives of others.

“Our Roads Policing Unit patrols the roads of Merseyside 365 days a year to protect people and regularly help bring to justice those who threaten the safety of road users by driving recklessly and at speed.
“It is in everyone’s interests to keep our roads safe. The drivers themselves, other road users and pedestrians will all be a lot safer if those who drive at speed are subject to enforcement.
"Issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for speeding at fixed camera locations is one of many measures we take to create a safer environment for everyone to use our roads.
"Complying with speed limits, driving with regard to other, more vulnerable road users and to the prevailing traffic conditions is critical if we are to achieve this. We’re optimistic that those drivers who comply with the speed limits at fixed camera locations will continue to do so elsewhere in Merseyside.
“In addition to fixed speed cameras, we also use mobile speed cameras and regularly deploy officers with speed guns to locations across Merseyside. This means that our officers can educate and engage with motorists and enforce legislation where necessary.
“It is absolutely imperative that everyone takes responsibility for their actions on the road, both with regard to speed, concentration and not driving impeded by drink, drugs or the use of mobile phones and other devices."
