A motorist found to be in possession of a machete and an amount of cannabis was arrested by traffic cops from Greater Manchester Police after a pursuit around the market town of Ramsbottom.
The suspicious-looking vehicle was initially spotted by police conducting motorway patrols on the M66, after the driver failed to pull over a pursuit continued for several minutes.
It wasn't long until the driver lost control of the vehicle on a roundabout and the police were about to bring the chase to an end. Officers then moved in and apprehended the fleeing motorist.

Upon a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a machete and a small amount of cannabis, and so duly took the driver into custody.
Greater Manchester Police Trffic tweeted about the incident in the ealry hours of this morning (Monday, October 17). It read: "Vehicle sighted by one of our motorway patrols on the M66. It failed to stop for several minutes and was pursued around #Ramsbottom before the driver lost control on a roundabout and was arrested. A machete was recovered from the vehicle as well as a small amount of cannabis."
The force also shared an image of the vehicle on the grass area of the roundabout following the police chase.
