Drinkers hail 'game changing' use for Sierra Tequila sombrero bottle topper

Sierra Tequila is easily one of the most recognisable brands of the alcoholic drink in the UK.

And its iconic red sombrero, which sits on the top of the drink, normally stands out on the supermarket shelves.

While the plastic topper is a nod to the drink’s Mexican roots, fans are now beginning to realise its additional uses, the Mirror reports.

A tweet emerged during the depths of the Covid lockdown in 2020, which explained the multi-usefulness of the sombrero.

This includes being a lime squeezer to being the ideal item to measure out the right amount of tequila for a shot.

But the most ‘game changing’ use for the sombrero can be found on the rim - which can be used to neatly salt your shot glass.

While Twitter user Jack Mull’s tweet approaches its two year anniversary, it has recently been re-circulated to many others once again.

He wrote: “I was today years old when I realised the sombrero on the top of the bottle of tequila was so you could salt your glass.”

The post garnered more than 1,000 likes and hundreds of retweets and replies.

Jack later added: "Don't even lie, you know you all thought it was just a cute little sombrero for your bottle.

"Game-changer blew my mind."

And he wasn't the only one whose mind was blown.

Someone else said: "You have changed everything.”

Another commented: "WHATTTTT NO THIS CHANGES THE ENTIRE GAME."

A fourth proclaimed: "I thought it was just a cute sombrero to put on your pet rat or something."

"I had no idea," added a different user.
