'Drinkable' Irn-Bru billboard appears in Glasgow city centre

A 'drinkable' Irn-Bru billboard has appeared in the centre of Glasgow, giving those passing by the opportunity to pick up a free can.

The billboard on Argyle Street will remain in place throughout the weekend, from 11am on Friday morning until 6pm on Sunday evening. People in Glasgow are being encouraged to head over and pick up a can of the sweet stuff.

The giant advert is a showcase for Irn-Bru Xtra, which is a lower calorie version of the iconic Scottish soft drink. According to the manufacturers, it contains "extra Irn-Bru taste and no sugar".

Calling it a "win-win" for fans of Irn-Bru, the makers have revealed that the billboard will bring this message to life. As more passersby pick up cans, a "funny quip" will slowly be revealed.

Irn-Bru has also announced it will be giving away "amazing prizes" across the weekend. Those who head to Argyle Street to pick up a can will have a chance of winning one of the bonuses.

Whenever one of these random prizes is won, a fanfare and confetti cannons will go off. Prizes include tickets to see Kendrick Lamar at the OVO Hydro.

As well as Glasgow, the billboard will appear in other Scottish cities such as Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Dundee throughout October.
