A drunk driver who killed a mum on her way home from a night out laughed as he climbed out of his ruined car, a court heard.
Steven Boochoon, 25, was driving at between 54 and 57 mph in a 20mph zone at around midnight on August 13 when he hit an Uber in north London.
The collision killed Franca Grossi, 52, and injured her friend Francesco Fontana, 48, and the driver of the Uber.
The Old Bailey heard climbing from the wreckage of his car, Boochoon laughed, My London reported.
He initially blamed the Uber driver but later pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while disqualified, causing death by driving while uninsured and using a motor vehicle with no insurance.
Prosecutor Ben Holt told proceedings : “The defendant was driving a Volkswagen Golf along Hornsey Rise.
“At this time he was disqualified from driving, had no insurance and was on the wrong side of the road.
"His speed was at least 50mph with the limit being 20mph. His car collided with an Uber taxi outside the forecourt of a BP petrol station."
The Uber driver described seeing something flying towards him before the crash, which set off the airbags.
Members of the public scrambled to help Franca and Mr Fontana from the car, but she sadly died of her injuries the next day in hospital.
Following the incident, Boochoon was asked by a police officer if he was finding the situation funny, to which he replied that he was.
Officers reported a strong smell of alcohol on Boochoon and noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and his balance was unsteady.
When asked if he had been drinking, he replied: "I've only had two shots bro."
Drug paraphernalia including a cannabis grinder and rolling papers were also found in his car. Boochoon had a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated and had been suspended for 12 months at the time of the incident.
Franca’s husband James Manns said: "The killing of my wife and the mother of our two young daughters has devastated us.
“We still can't and I doubt we will come to terms with this tragedy. Every day I feel sick in the pit of my stomach and I will never get over the image in my head of when I was with Franca the day she died in hospital. A piece of me also died that day.
"She was a young, kind, generous, passionate and happy woman always laughing and helping out people with such sincere honesty and love.
"I'm left with anger and hatred towards Steve Boochoon which I have never felt towards anyone in my life before.
“I will never forgive nor forget what he has done."
Franca’s friend Francesco Fontana, 48, added: “It's not possible to put into words the impact the dangerous driving of Steve Boochoon has had on my life.
“Most people wake up from a nightmare but I wake up every morning to a real one. I struggle into work and I'm not the same person I was before. It has been beautiful to have you in my life for 20 years."
Speaking on his behalf, defence lawyer Peter Rowlands said he had shown "genuine remorse" and he had a number of good character references from the restaurant where he worked.
Boochoon, of Hornsey, will be sentenced on Friday.
