An allegedly drunk driver who "wanted an early-morning snack" crashed through a barbed wire fence before falling asleep in a fast-food drive-through area in Adelaide's north, according to police.
The 35-year-old Paralowie man will face court after a breath test returned a reading almost five times the legal limit, police said.
Patrols were called to a fast-food outlet at Bolivar just after 5:30am today where the man had allegedly fallen asleep.
Police said the man had been travelling north on Port Wakefield Road "before suddenly deciding he wanted an early-morning snack".
"He turned off the road, driving over a verge, directly through a barbed wire fence, beelining it to the drive-through area," Senior Constable Kate Dawson told ABC Radio Adelaide.
As police arrived, the man allegedly drove into the carpark of a nearby service station, turned in a circle and then came to a stop.
The driver, described by police as a "hungry, high-range drink driver" who was "strongly suspected of being intoxicated", was breath tested and allegedly returned a reading of 0.230.
The man was handed a 12-month on-the-spot loss of licence. He will face court, having been reported for drink driving and driving without due care.
Police said his car, which was towed from the scene, would be impounded for four weeks.
