When Dries Van Noten announced his runway retirement earlier this year, everyone began speculating just who would fill his undeniably stylish shoes. There are plenty of open slots out there along with talk that there's going to be some seismic shifts (like Matthieu Blazy going to Chanel and Carven's Louise Trotter subsequently filling his role at Bottega Veneta). So we couldn't wait to see which designer would make a move to Dries Van Noten. Turns out no moving was required as the brand promoted someone from within its own ranks.
Julian Klausner has worked alongside the legendary designer on the label's women's collections since August 2018. The La Cambre/École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels graduate will design both the women's and men's collections.
"I am beyond thrilled to oversee the upcoming seasons as we begin the next chapter for this house," says Klausner. "The incomparable legacy that Dries is leaving behind is monumental, serving as an endless source of precious inspiration. I look forward to embarking on new ambitious challenges while honouring the heritage we all cherish."
We won't have to wait long to see what Klausner will bring to the brand. Come January he'll put out a lookbook for the fashion house's Winter 2025 menswear offering. His debut womenswear collection will be sent down the runway on March 5.
