Drew Lock: ‘I’m proud of this team, proud of the way Geno played’

The Seahawks and the 12th Man are riding an emotional high following their thrilling 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos. This wasn’t your average prime-time showdown as the storyline of Russell Wilson’s return to Seattle brought an entirely new dynamic to the game.

While Geno Smith was rightfully the star of the night after his sublime performance, he wasn’t the only Seahawks quarterback elated about the statement win. Backup Drew Lock came to Seattle in the same trade that sent Wilson to Denver. Cast aside by the team who drafted him in their pursuit of Wilson, Lock had plenty of reason to revel in the postgame celebrations.

“It was cool,” Lock declared. “I’m proud of this team, proud of the way Geno played. What a special place. Ever since I’ve been here, you can feel it. This is a great way to start the year.”

When asked if Lock provided any special insight to the Seahawks about the Broncos, the quarterback let out a quick chuckle.

“I have a good understanding of that team, who they were,” Lock said. “More of a personnel deal, who the players are. Gave some things here or there, but it all goes out the window when you step out there on the field and you gotta make the plays and our guys did that tonight.”
