Dressing room joke behind Cristiano Ronaldo goal celebration in Man United vs Everton revealed

Cristiano Ronaldo's new celebration which he debuted after his goal against Everton was a joke at his own expense.

Manchester United bounced back from their humiliating defeat at the hands of Manchester City with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday. However, it did look like Erik ten Hag's side would struggle when the Toffees took the lead inside five minutes with a wonderful strike from Alex Iwobi.

They weren't behind for long as Antony made it three league goals in as many games, curling an effort into the bottom corner after being set up by Anthony Martial. The Frenchman was making his first league start of the season despite picking up a knock in the warm-up.

Martial started the game regardless but couldn't see out the half and was replaced before the half-hour mark by Ronaldo. The No.7 has had a difficult start to the season and found minutes hard to come by but made a significant impact at Goodison Park by grabbing the winner.

Casemiro played an incisive pass to Ronaldo who brushed off Seamus Coleman before firing his 700th club career goal into the bottom corner. In celebration, instead of his typical 'Siu' taunt, Ronaldo opted for a different pose. This time the Portuguese stood with his eyes closed and his hands across his chest as if asleep and was joined by Antony.

It transpires, as revealed by United's in-house media, that the celebration was actually a self-deprecating joke. It mimicked the pose that the 37-year-old takes when he actually does fall asleep while travelling with the squad, an amusing position that hasn't gone unnoticed by his teammates.

United players posed with Ronaldo and a gifted 'Ronaldo 700' United jersey at Carrington on Monday in celebration of the striker's latest remarkable milestone.
