Prince Harry details exchange between Meghan and Kate over dress row

Prince Harry has discussed a tense exchange between his wife Meghan Markle and his sister-in-law Kate over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress.

The Duke of Sussex claimed the incident was mostly fuelled by Kate, who was insulted that she had to wait a day to hear back from Meghan about the 'offending' piece of clothing ahead of the 2018 Royal wedding. He also claimed in his new book, Spare, that Kate didn't find Meghan's suggestion of bringing the dress to a tailor at Kensington Palace sufficient enough, instead stating that "all the dresses need to be remade".

As the big day drew near, Harry said Meghan became increasingly more stressed while juggling issues with Charlotte's dress and the controversy surrounding her father, Thomas Markle. He adds that she eventually ended up "sobbing on the floor", the Mirror reports.

Harry writes in his book, which came out at midnight in the UK after its premature release in Spain: "Meg didn't reply to Kate straight away. Yes, she had endless wedding-related texts, but mostly she was dealing with the chaos surrounding her father.

"So the next morning she texted Kate that our tailor was standing by."

Harry writes in his book that Meghan said the tailor was named Ajay and was at "KP" which is Kensington Palace.

The reported exchange between the two, according to the Mirror, was...

Kate: "Charlotte's dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on at home."

Meghan: "Right, and I told you the tailor has been standing by since 8am. Here. At KP. Can you take Charlotte to have it altered, as the other mums are doing?"

Kate: "No, all the dresses need to be remade."

Meghan: "I'm not sure what else to say. If the dress doesn't fit then please take Charlotte to see Ajay. He's been waiting all day."

Kate: "Fine."

Harry also claims that Kate said she discussed the dress issue with her "own wedding designer" and they agreed. The Duke added that all the stress from Charlotte's dress and the chaos circulating around her father led to Meghan "sobbing on the floor".
