If you're a side sleeper, you'll understand the value of a cloud-like memory foam mattress that cradles pressure points while supporting your back. That is exactly what these affordable foam mattresses do.

- The DreamCloud Memory Foam Mattress is over 50% off with a one-year trial
More often than not there's a DreamCloud mattress sale going on. DreamCloud is running a 50% discount on its mattress suite of all models, bringing a queen DreamCloud memory foam mattress down to $665 (MSRP $1,613). This is the best price we've seen to date and don't anticipate it to drop much further, even come Black Friday.
On the other hand, the Zinus Original Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress is an entry level all-foam with a simple design to keep costs low. The mattress does cushioning on a budget best, and if that's what you need, this is a reliable choice.
With the current discount, the Zinus comes in at a slightly lower price for a queen than the DreamCloud at $499 (was $599). You'll also bag free shipping, a 10-year warranty and 100-night trial.
You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal than $665 for a queen size DreamCloud elsewhere for a mattress of this quality. If you can spare an extra $166 then the DreamCloud is a more plush, better value for money option than the more budget Zinus. Plus, with DreamCloud you'll get lifetime warranty, a one-year sleep trial and free delivery.
DreamCloud vs Zinus: Materials & Design
- Both mattresses are all-foam models
- The DreamCloud is 12" fall with seven layers
- The Zinus is 10" tall (6", 8" and 12" available on Amazon) with three layers
The three-layer design of the Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress is relatively basic for an all-foam bed, but that’s not a surprise from a budget mattress and it still earns a well-deserved spot in our best memory foam mattress guide.
We tested the 10" model in our Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam mattress review, which is an average height for an adult mattress. There are different heights available if you shop via Amazon, including 6", 8" and 12". We recommend opting for 10 inches or higher when choosing a mattress for an adult. Only the 10-inch model is available direct from Zinus.
This mattress starts with a soft, breathable cover to help stay fresh. After, a layer of pressure-relieving memory foam is infused with green tea to help keep the mattress fresh. For added support and comfort, there is another memory foam comfort layer above a durable base layer that helps absorb motion. In fact, this layer performs so well our tester awarded it 4.5/5 for motion isolation, making it a great choice for couples.
Zinus infuse its foam layers with natural green tea, which they claim keeps the mattress fresh. Though our testers were skeptical it actually served any purpose outside of making the mattress sound organic and wellness-inducing.
The DreamCloud Memory Foam Mattress is 12" tall with seven layers of foam wrapped up in a breathable cashmere blend quilted cover top, giving this budget mattress a luxurious feel.
There is a therapeutic gel memory foam layer that hugs to your body for adaptive support, a dynamic transition layer to absorb motion transfer and promote proper spinal alignment and a 9" base foam layer for stability over time.
Both mattresses are made with responsible materials. DreamCloud's and Zinus' foams meet CertiPur-US standard for content, emissions and durability, providing you with a clean eco-conscience while you sleep peacefully.
DreamCloud vs Zinus: Support & Comfort
- Both are medium-firm mattresses with a 6.5 out of 10 firmness rating
- The DreamCloud offers a strong balance of comfort and support
- The Zinus hugs and contours your body
As medium-firm memory foam mattresses, you'd expect the DreamCloud and Zinus to best suit side sleepers who crave cradling comfort and pressure relief and they don't let us down here.
DreamCloud's original memory foam mattress provides soothing pressure relief and reliable motion isolation, thanks to the dense structure of supportive, responsive foams. The seven layers of foam work together to provide adaptive support. The therapeutic gel memory foam particularly provides pressure relief in the neck, back, shoulders and hips, alleviating any aches and pains in these areas.
Underneath that there's a dynamic transition layer that enhances lumbar support and promotes spinal alignment. All in all, the DreamCloud is an impressively comfortable and supportive mattress considering its low price point.
Similarly, the Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress delivers the kind of adaptive comfort we expect from traditional memory foam, excelling in cushioning the shoulders and hips.
As a mattress you sink into rather than lay on top of, it 'hugs' and molds to the body through the night, relieving pressure from joints. That's why the Zinus earns its reputation as one of our best mattresses for side sleepers.
The dense foam at the base of the mattress comes in to support the lumbar region. Our lightweight reviewer was comfortable laying on their back on the Zinus. But heavier sleepers and back pain suffers would benefit from a firmer sleep surface with more advanced lumbar support.
DreamCloud vs Zinus: Temperature regulation
- Traditionally, all-foam mattresses lack temperature control
- The DreamCloud has breathable cover and cooling foam
- The Zinus memory foam mattress lacks cooling features
By and large, all-foam mattresses are not as good as the best hybrid mattresses when it comes to temperature regulation as air cannot flow through foam layers like it can in more open coil structures.
While DreamCloud have thought of this and implemented temperature control properties in its memory foam mattress, Zinus are not so on top of temperature regulation in its Original Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress.
DreamCloud's cashmere comfort cover is made of moisture-wicking, breathable fabric that dispels heat so you can sleep more comfortably. The second layer of the mattress also features gel memory foam which is known for its ability to effectively regulate temperature. This foam uses cooling polymer gel to absorb body heat and disperse it throughout the mattress surface.
The green tea and graphite in the Zinus memory foam mattress helps the mattress stay fresher for longer, but these features don't actively cool you as you sleep. Our lead tester isn't a particularly hot sleeper but found the hugging nature of the mattress meant it held on to body heat.
While this shouldn't be a problem for the average sleeper on average temperature nights, year-round hot sleepers would be better off with the DreamCloud Memory Foam Mattress or, better yet, one of this year's best cooling mattresses.
