Drayton Manor's new splash ride for kids opening at Thomas Land theme park this weekend

A brand new ride is set to make a splash at the Thomas Land theme park at the Drayton Manor Resort. The theme park's first "baby flume" will open to celebrate Thomas Land's 15th anniversary, opening on Saturday, April 29.

Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash is gearing up to open at the Thomas & Friends™ themed attraction from this weekend. The family-friendly "baby flume" will feature two mini drops and be suitable for children accompanied by an adult from aged 2 upwards.

Thomas Land has seen more than 10 million visitors since opening in 2008 at the Midlands theme park. It features rides such as Cranky’s Drop Tower where riders are dropped into action, as well as Thomas, Rosie and Percy Engine Tours which have travelled a total distance of 4,350 miles.

Visitors will board the new splash ride at Brendam Docks to help Thomas and Percy deliver the submarine to Vicarstown Museum, with help from Thomas’ good friend, Harold the Helicopter. Thomas Land is the section of the theme park popular with families of younger kids on days out.

Each boat on the Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash is suitable for 1 adult and 1 child, or 2 children aged over 6. The ride's safety information says children under 6 MUST ride with an adult, and that children under 2 years are not permitted to ride.

"The arrival of Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash ride is an exciting milestone for Thomas Land as it celebrates its 15th Anniversary," said Victoria Lynn, Managing Director at Drayton Manor Resort. "We’re certain that Thomas fans across the Midlands and beyond will want to enter the immersive world of Thomas Land themselves.

“Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash ride will provide the opportunity for families to experience a thrilling flume together, featuring two mini drops on an exciting journey through the Island of Sodor. Guests are sure to feel part of the Thomas & Friends team while working together to help transport the submarine to its final destination.”

Julie Freeland, senior director at Mattel, welcomed the new addition to Thomas Land. She said: "We are thrilled to be able to expand upon the more than 25 rides and attractions at Thomas Land and offer new experiences for families to enjoy together."

The new ride comes amid continued investment at the Drayton Manor Resort which has seen two new areas, Adventure Cove and Vikings, open in the last two years. The Resort also has its own on-site four star hotel with Thomas & Friends™ themed rooms.

Entrance to Thomas Land is via the day passes at the resort, which can be purchased from £30 for individual tickets for age four and over, £15 for ages 2-3 and there are also adult and todller passes for £29 for midweek entry. All the ticket options are available on the Drayton Manor Website here.
