Draymond Green and his new teammate Chris Paul have repeatedly clashed on the hardwood during their many battles over the last 11 years. During an appearance on The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, Green addressed how he and the heated rival will get along now that Paul will suit up for the Warriors.
“I’ve publicly said I didn’t like Chris before,” Green said. “I’m just not gonna be like, ‘Oh man, that changed now that he’s my teammate.’ No! I look forward to talking amongst men. I look forward to working with another dog.”
Green added that he always respected Paul’s “tenacity” and said he and coach Steve Kerr have discussed what the point guard brings to the team. In that conversation, Green said the two agreed they hated playing against Paul because of his willingness and desperation to win.
When talking to reporters on July 9, Paul also addressed playing with Green and had nothing but love for his old rival.
“Draymond is sort of like—I always say when people ask me who’s the one player that I didn’t get to play with that I wish I would have, I always say Kevin Garnett. And it’s because the first three times I ever played against KG, we both got double techs,” Paul said. “We were about to fight every time, but it’s because he was like-minded like me. And I think that’s the way with Draymond. I know he competes just like I do. So it’s going to be definitely dope to see us now as teammates.”
