Draymond Green believes Warriors depth is due to suspension

The Golden State Warriors boast a deep and talented roster. The emergence of Jonathan Kuminga as a starting-level talent has helped cement the team’s rotation, while Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, and Trayce Jackson-Davis have all become reliable members of the rotation in one form or another.

When speaking to the media following the Warriors win over the Utah Jazz on Monday (Feb. 11) Draymond Green noted how his recent suspension has likely played a role in the Warriors cementing their depth and improving some of the other talents within the roster.

“Honestly, I think me getting suspended helped in a weird way,” Green said. “Number one, since I got suspended, JK has taken off, which has set the stage for this team. Bona fide number two option on our team…Not that I wanted to get suspended or that was good, or anything like that. But I do think that helped us find different things that we can go to and explore.”

The Warriors have slowly begun climbing back up the Western Conference. They’re no longer outside of the playoff picture. If they can continue playing at their current level, their resurgence will likely continue throughout the final months of the regular season.

Green’s return to the rotation has played a big part in Golden State’s renewed production on both sides of the floor. Kuminga also deserves some praise for how he’s handled stepping into a much bigger role and how he’s thrived since doing so. Regardless of whether Green’s suspension positively impacted the growth of this Warriors roster, his return has been a catalyst.

Now, Golden State looks like they could be a problem in the postseason, which is exactly what the fanbase has been hoping for.
