This is the dramatic moment nine Iraqi migrants were spotted trying to get to the UK in a dinghy.

The group were made up of two families, including four children, and were picked up in the English Channel at around 3.15am on Tuesday.

In the video, the group can be seen wearing life jackets as the boat bobs in the water.

A Border Force crew can be seen using poles to bring the dinghy closer in order to bring the migrants on board their ship.

According to Sky News, more than 100 migrants have been rescued off the Kent coast this month alone.

There are claims that migrants are attempting the journey amid fears that border control could be stricter after Britain leaves the EU.

In a statement the Home Office confirmed that Border Force were contacted by Kent Police at around 3.15 am.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “A Border Force cutter and a coastal patrol vessel were deployed and intercepted by a dinghy off the Kent coast with nine people on board.

“The nine were taken on board the cutter and were brought into Dover where they were met by Border Force officers.

“The group consisted of one man and two family groups – father, mother and three minors; father, mother and one minor – all of whom presented themselves as Iraqi.

“All are medically well and have been transferred to Immigration officials for interview.”
