A crack cocaine dealer drove off with a police officer clinging to his van. Lee 'Pop' Davies threw away more than 50 wraps of the Class A drug during the Merthyr Tydfil chase.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "In October 2021 our officers spotted a van that made off at speed... One officer attempted to secure the vehicle but when he tried to remove the keys from the ignition the suspect drove forward while the officer’s arm was still in the vehicle, causing it to twist in the door frame, breaking his hand."
Davies threw a bag out of the van window but it was recovered by officers who found 51 wraps of crack inside with a street value of £1,020. Police detained Davies a short time later and found a knife on him. He was also carrying a phone which contained messages connected to his dealing.
He appeared at Cardiff Crown Court last month after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, assaulting an emergency worker, and possession of a knife in a public place. Davies was jailed for seven years. You can read more of the latest Welsh court news here.
