Dramatic pictures show the aftermath of a HGV crash that caused major rush-hour congestion on the M60 on Wednesday evening (September 28). The slip road, anticlockwise, onto the M62 to Liverpool, became totally blocked after the collision.
Motorway police raced to the scene of the incident, which involved two HGVs shortly before 5pm. Transport for Greater Manchester announced the crash, warning there was no access to the M62 westbound from the M60 anticlockwise at Junction 12, causing severe delays into rush hour.
Following the road reopening on Wednesday evening, North West Motorway Police shared shocking images showing the two vehicles involved in the crash.
A white HGV can be seen visibly damaged, and appears to have collided with the rear of another blue vehicle in the incident. It was later confirmed there were no serious injuries to either driver.
North West Motorway Police tweeted: "The M60 anti-clockwise to the M62 westbound is now fully re-open. Here are a few images of the scene, thankfully no injuries to those involved."
Emergency services arrived at the incident shortly before 5pm, with the slip road remaining fully closed for a number of hours before reopening later in the evening.
