Dramatic photos show Dublin Fire Brigade crews attending to a fire in the city centre as two people rescued

Dublin Fire Brigade has shared dramatic photos of the scene of a blaze over the south side of the city in the early hours of Tuesday, with two people rescued.

Crews discovered a decking on fire in a high-rise building upon investigating the source.

Six fire engines from the brigade attended the blaze on New Street in South city centre last night.

Dublin Fire Brigade posted about the incident on their Twitter account this afternoon, sharing dramatic photos of the scene.

The Tweet said: “Last night, six fire engines responded to a high rise fire in the South city centre.

“On arrival, firefighters discovered decking alight and rescued two people. The fire was extinguished and crews checked for further spread of fire.”

A spokesperson confirmed the news to the Irish Mirror: "Dublin Fire Brigade was called at 00:45am to reports of a high rise fire off New Street in the South city centre.

"Numerous '999' calls were received and firefighters responded from Dolphins Barn, Tara Street and Phibsborough fire stations.

"On arrival at the scene, decking was discovered to be alight and firefighters led two people to safety. The fire was under control by 01:14am and six fire engines attended the incident including a turntable ladder. Firefighters checked for further fire spread before leaving the scene at 03:37am.”

In the photos shared to Twitter, crews can be seen attending to the damage and the fire on top of the building, as well as firefighters assisting from on top of the building.
