A woman in her 20s was left seriously injured after a dramatic crash at a racing circuit. Both the driver of the BMW and the passenger were rushed to hospital after Saturday's accident at the Castle Combe track near Chippenham.
The collision, during the Forge Motorsport Action Day event, was captured on camera. Footage shows the dramatic moment one of the performance cars swerved out of control.
It flips over several times, leaving a dust of sand in its wake. The driver suffered minor injuries but the passenger is understood to be in serious condition.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "We responded at around 12.45pm on Saturday (September 3) to an RTC involving a BMW on the Castle Combe racing circuit. The driver, a man in his 20s from Chepstow, Wales, suffered minor injuries.
“The passenger, a woman in her 20s from Blackwood, Wales, suffered serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing."
A Twitter post from user @f1tomRB suggests that this is actually the second serious crash to take place at Castle Combe racing circuit in a matter of days. In a tweet on August 29, they wrote: "Two air ambulances landed at Castle Combe today after a horrible accident with a historic car flipping - hope all involved are okay."
This was accompanied with a photograph of air ambulances in attendance at the track. Castle Combe Circuit has been approached for comment.
