A van burst into flames on a busy Scots road last night, sparking an emergency response from fire crews. The incident took place shortly before 5.30pm on the M90 near Bridge of Earn, Perth.
Footage taken at the scene shows plumes of thick, grey smoke billowing from the vehicle which is ablaze. Orange flames spit from the van due to the inferno, which appears to have taken hold of the main body of the van.
The fire is seen to have spread to a grassy verge nearby, causing the area of gorse to be set alight, too. An individual can be seen standing dangerously close to the vehicle and appears to be making attempts to extinguish the blaze.
The inside lane where the commotion is taking place is blocked while traffic in the adjacent lane moves slowly. It is believed the event caused delays for drivers, with queues spotted on the motorway back towards Craigend.
It is unclear whether anyone was injured as a result of the incident.
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We first received a call to reports of a van on fire at 5.23pm. There were two appliances in attendance, both from Perth.
"One main jet and one hose reel jet was used along with breathing apparatus. We received the stop message at 5:58pm."
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Officers were called to reports of a vehicle on fire on the southbound M90, near Junction 10, at around 5.20pm on Friday, 22 July, 2022. Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished.”
