Shohei Ohtani stole the headlines Friday when conflicting reports emerged about whether the superstar free agent was flying to Toronto to meet with the Blue Jays or at home in Southern California.
It only added fuel to the fire, then, when rapper Drake posted a picture of himself on Instagram wearing an Ohtani All-Star jersey.

Drake is a Toronto native and a noted fan of all of the city’s sports teams. He once used a picture of Blue Jays legend Joe Carter as cover art for the song “Back To Back.”
Of course, Drake’s fandom comes with a costly price. His fandom, which can be described as, well, “bandwagon” at times, is infamously tied to a sports curse where a team or athlete he supports comes up short of their goal.
Blue Jays fans certainly are hoping the Drake curse doesn’t come back to haunt them as Ohtani weighs his free-agent decision:
Drake curse
