Drake to buy Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann Rolex watches after winning UFC bet

Rapper Drake will buy Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann a Rolex watch each after winning £3.1 million from his latest bet.

The Canadian star has often placed bets on the UFC but has been accused of jinxing the fighters after a losing streak on his stakes. However he finally correctly predicted the winner of a fight last month having placed a bet on champion Israel Adesanya who brushed aside the challenge of Jarod Cannonier.

His first bet this year came in March when he backed Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington with $275,000 but 'Gamebred' was comfortably outpointed by his bitter rival. Drake tried to turn the tables by later placing a bet on Justin Gaethje to become UFC champion but he was quickly choked out by the previous title holder Charles Oliveira.

This time Drake had opted to back Pimblett and McCann having likely been impressed by their previous victories at the first UFC London event back in April. He backed the pair with $2.3million (£1.9m) in a win double bet that saw him return a mammoth $3.7m (£3.1m). McCann made her octagon bow first seeing off the challenge of Hannah Goldy with an explosive opening round stoppage.

Pimblett later took to the stage in front of a raucous crowd and was able to secure a submission victory in the second round with a rear-naked choke. The teammates were seen backstage together after the fight, with McCann posting a video on Instagram making a request to Drake, where she said: "Drake we have just broken your course lad. Can I have a Rolex please?" Pimblett then appeared on the video, adding: "Champagne Papi come on what are we getting for that?"

Pimblett later added: "Molly sent him a video right after it on Instagram and he said he was going to give us both a Rolex so we are swimming it." The Liverpudlian star secured a third career victory in a fight that once again generated huge interest in the early stages of his UFC career.

Leavitt proved an awkward opponent having been able to compete with Pimblett in the first five minutes, but quickly found himself on the back foot after the first bell sounded for the second stanza. The 27-year-old got his victory and made an emotional post-fight tribute during his interview with UFC legend Michael Bisping.

"This is how I go down, boy," he said. "I'm disappointed in my performance. In the back I was firing on all cylinders. I was s***, pardon my French, I'm better than that. That's something I'm very good at [the finish]. I want to dedicate this fight to Baby Lee, a warrior, more of a fighter than any of us will ever be.

"But I also woke up to a message at 4am on Friday that one of my friends from home had killed themselves so Ricky, that's for you. There's a stigma that men can't talk, but if you're a man and you've got a weight on your shoulders, speak to someone, speak to anyone."
