Drake has surprised fans by revealing the imminent release of his seventh studio album, just hours before it was due to happen.
The Canadian rapper made the announcement via Instagram, on which he has 113million followers, late on Thursday night (June 16), saying the album would drop at midnight (Eastern Time, which is five hours behind UK time). He also announced that he would be presenting his first radio show ever on the same night.
The album is titled Honestly, Nevermind. Posting a picture of the album cover, which features the title written in retro grunge graffiti lettering on a black background, the singer wrote: “7th studio album ‘HONESTLY, NEVERMIND’ out at midnight.”
Drake, who has given no previous clue that he had a new release on the way, also revealed that, one hour before the album dropped, he would host his first radio show ever, Table for One, on the satellite and online radio network SiriusXM.
It comes just nine months after the release of his last album Certified Lover Boy, which was delayed while the rapper recovered from surgery on an injured leg. All six of Drake’s previous albums have topped the charts in the US.
