Drake Maye injury vs Chargers: Latest news on Patriots QB

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye took a hard helmet-to-helmet hit on the sidelines on the first drive of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The rookie stayed on the ground after the initial hit and appeared shaken up after the play. He jogged off the field slowly and sat on the bench for a little while by offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.

Then he was called over to get checked out in the blue medical tent before eventually being taken to the locker room.

Drake Maye injury update

Maye is expected to return with a head injury after the play. Backup Jacoby Brissett immediately replaced him on the field after he went to the locker room.

How long will Drake Maye be out?

After getting checked out in the locker room, Patriots coach Jerod Mayo confirmed Maye would be returning to the game. The quarterback exited the locker room, returned to the bench and went right back to studying the playbook.
