Dragons' Den star Steven Bartlett records 'heated' podcast with Matt Hancock

Dragon Steven Bartlett has revealed that his latest podcast episode will feature none other than ex-health secretary Matt Hancock and his new partner, Gina Colangelo.

In June 2021, Hancock was forced to resign from his post as health secretary after he breached social distancing guidance. His resignation came after CCTV footage leaked online showing him locking lips with aide Gina Colangelo.

The footage was reportedly filmed on May 6, 2021. On this date, the law in England banned indoor social gatherings of people from different households, and social distancing and face mask guidance was still in place.

And now, the ex-health secretary and his new partner are set to be questioned by Steven Bartlett in his podcast 'The Diary of a CEO'.

Taking to Twitter to announce the news, Steven said: "Matt Hancock x The Diary Of A CEO! Matt Hancock stopped by with his new partner Gina to speak to me. "It’s time to find out what really happened, it’s time to ask the questions we’ve not had answers to; Party gate? Where did the CCTV footage come from? What mistakes did he make?"

Steven also revealed that the episode marks a milestone for his podcast. The 29-year-old said: "This is the first time in the history of The Diary Of A CEO that things got a little heated between me and a guest at one point. "However, Matt did answer all of the tough questions I asked him and nothing will be edited out. You will see it all."

Since leaving his role as health secretary, Hancock's remains the MP for West Suffolk. In October 2021, he announced his appointment as the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa special representative for financial innovation and climate change.

But some people have been critical of Hancock's media moves since the scandal that caused his resignation. Replying to Steven's announcement on Twitter, Paul Brannon said: "The awkward Hancock campaign to transcend politics into some kind of “influencer” or cultural icon is pretty tragic. Akin to your Dad catching on to gin as a “hot trend” or saying they’ve signed up for TokTic."

Meanwhile, Bristol Rovers supporter Steve asked Steven: "Did you ask him about PPE contracts he gave to his pub landlord friend?". To this, Steven replied, "Yes."
