Dragon's Den star Deborah Meaden wants to fund vegan Stilton firm after missing cheese

Dragon's Den big cheese Deborah Meaden has revealed she wants to invest in a vegan Stilton company.

The tycoon cut animal products from her diet in 2020 but craves a really good replacement for her favourite fromage. She said: “I am an unintended vegan.

"I decided to do Veganuary two years ago and thought, ‘I like this and don’t want to eat meat’.

"I feel fitter and better in my soul because I’ve reduced the impact on the planet. However I miss cheese. If anyone can come up with a vegan stilton I’ll throw money at them!”

Deborah, 63, has amassed £47million thanks to her keen eye for an investment and has been on the hit BBC show for 15 years.

Despite her wealth, she re-uses tea leaves, keeps the heating off and does not buy new clothes.

Co-stars even nickname her “Swampy” due to her passion for green issues.

Deborah explained: “I get great joy out of getting a hole in my jumper and thinking, ‘I’ve worn that out’. I’ve had the same jacket on the show for three seasons.”

She even has a “box of shame” for plastic at home.

She added: “My husband Paul and I think about how much plastic we can remove and what we can buy differently.”

Episodes of The Big Green Money Show with Deborah Meaden will be released on BBC Sounds every Friday.
