RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Bimini Bon Boulash has spoken out after a mural celebrating their success and transgender rights was vandalised.

Last week, the work by artist Knapple and trans activist Sharpay Salazar appeared on an underpass in Bimini’s hometown of Norwich.

Set against the trans flag, it shows the non-binary queen, who reached the final of BBC Three’s competition series, wearing their Norwich City FC look from the first episode.

The mural reads: “Bimini Babes watch the queen conquer. Whether you’re he, she or them!!! #TransRights.”

However, on Sunday (28 March), the artwork was painted over in an apparent act of vandalism, BBC News reports.

Responding to the news on Twitter, Bimini said that they would never stop being themselves.

“I’ll never shy away from living an authentically queer experience even if there are people that disagree with our existence,” they wrote. “Trans rights are human rights and I will push that message until the end.”

Bimini continued: “I don’t feel anger, I have sympathy. I feel sorry for the people who felt threatened or intimidated by a message portraying love, positivity and kindness.”

The drag queen, real name Tommy Hibbitts, earned praise during their series for having a frank discussion with fellow non-binary queen Ginny Lemon about their gender indentities.

Series two of Drag Race UK came to an end in March, with Lawrence Chaney beating Bimini, Tayce and Ellie Diamond to take the crown.
