Drag Race's Shangela vows to 'get spicy' on Dancing With The Stars after shock results

RuPaul's Drag Race star Shangela has revealed she will 'spice things up' on Dancing with the Stars having received her first perfect score from the judges.

With the final week of the competition fast approaching, the 40-year-old drag queen said she wants to push herself "to the farthest limit" and deliver a spectacular performance for viewers.

During Monday (October 31) night's episode, Shangela was given her highest score yet after performing a jazz routine to Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do alongside her professional dance partner Gleb Savchenko.

She said she was in "pure shock" when the results rolled in.

"I'm from Texas, so I am no stranger to spicy things," Shangela said.

"So it is time to get spicy up in this ballroom and really push myself to the farthest limit that I can go to, in order to deliver a top-notch show," she said during an interview with PEOPLE.

Shangela, whose name is Darius Jeremy Pierce out of drag, has set her sights on winning the Mirrorball trophy as the prospect gets closer to becoming reality.

She said: "I know I'm going to cry all my bottom lashes if I win. I will just cry with joy."

Shangela and Gleb's jazz performance received an outpouring of praise from the judges.

Carrie Ann Inaba called the dance Shangela's "best performance" yet and applauded her for being so "immersed" on the dancefloor.

Len Goodman added: "It was a proper Halloween [dance]. It scared the pants off me!"

Derek Hough agreed with Len and said while the routine would give him "nightmares", it was "sensational".

Shangela made history by appearing on Dancing with the Stars after becoming the first drag queen to compete on the US version of Strictly Come Dancing.

Writing on Instagram, she said: "My heart was racing like crazy but when the announcer guy started the intro, in my mind I went into full-on Beyoncé at the Super Bowl mode.

"I wanted to deliver y’all a moment that was worthy of all ur love and support, and also show people that might not be familiar or loving of drag queens, that we belong, and we know how to Turn The Party!

"Keep cheering, watching and Voting because we are in this together hopefully all the way to the finals!"
