The Lions make the first shocker of the draft after a trade down, selecting Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs with the 12th overall selection.
Gibbs was a versatile machine for the Crimson Tide and Georgia Tech over the last three seasons, racking up 1,200 receiving yards over that time. Last season, in his first for Alabama, Gibbs was fantastic on the ground, with 926 yards and an explosive 6.1 yards per carry in the ground and pound Crimson Tide offense.
The Lions clearly wanted to add an impact player into a backfield that includes David Montgomery and DeAndre Swift, and Gibbs will fit right into a unique rotation. If needed, Gibbs can use his elite receiving skill set to fit right into the slot role in certain packages. He could find himself quickly taking over the every down spot for Detroit.
