In 2021 Jodie announced she would be leaving the show and her last episodes will be three specials, with the first Eve of the Daleks, airing on New Years Day 2022 and the rest to come later in the year.
Filming for these episodes has already taken place, with many filming locations in Wales, where former Doctor Who stars including Bradley Walsh and Jacob Anderson were spotted on set.
This has led to many fans to believe that Bradley and Jacob will be featuring in the new episode which is also set to see the villains the Sea Devils return for the first time since 1984.
Guest stars confirmed for the new episode are Crystal Yu playing Madame Ching, Arthur Lee playing Ji-Hun, and Marlow Chan-Reeves playing Ying Ki. The episode will be set in 19th century China in a small coastal village that is under threat from the pirate queen Madame Ching.
Jodie has recently revealed at the 2022 Brit Awards that she is pregnant with her second child and you can read more about her life off-screen here.
Welsh showrunner Russel T Davies will also be returning to Doctor Who after these three special episodes and will be working alongside the new Doctor-the BBC has given no clues about who Jodie's replacement is and who the new Doctor Who will be.
