Dr Pimple Popper, has saved the day again for her newest patient Teresa who experienced a painful 'clown nose' condition that makes her feel 'like a monster' in a new episode airing on TLC.
In the ‘clown nose’ episode trailer 53-year-old Teresa, a furniture refurbisher, shares her heart wrenching story of her battle with her painful, mysterious medical condition that causes her to have a red, enlarged nose that ‘looks like a clown.’
The patient describes her nose as looking like a ‘moon with craters’ with each of the craters having little balls inside of them that get white heads that pop when she squeezes them.
In the trailer, she says: “My cheeks are always red and hot and inflamed - I look like a monster. I’m a red monster.”
The patient first noticed the troubling medical condition when she was 28 years old and pregnant with her first daughter Amanda. At the time she noticed a large cyst forming on her nose and immediately went to see a doctor to seek help. She then, she has visited multiple dermatologists over 26 years and has continuously been diagnosed with Rosacea. She has tried everything under the sun to try to battle her condition - pills, gels, lotions, tanning beds, acid peels, anything she could think of - but nothing is working.
In the video, Teresa says: “I pay all this money for prescriptions and the treatments but my nose is growing and growing and growing and I don’t think it is Rosacea anymore.”
Teresa also shares some background about herself and her family in the trailer, and that she and her mother own a furniture refurbishing business together. Refurbishing furniture is something that Teresa is very passionate about and she loves spending her time and energy doing every day.
When discussing her business, Teresa says: "I love to do this stuff. My mom is the builder and I make it pretty so I paint and stain and make it look nice."
Their family business that started off as a hobby has grown to become so successful that they now participate in huge shows. At these events the duo go as a team, bringing all their favorite furniture pieces to show off. But now that Teresa's nose is growing larger, it has taken a toll on her self confidence and making it more difficult for her to attend these events and talk to new people.
In a moment of vulnerability, Teresa shares: "I don't know if I can sit there and let people look at me and all the red on my face with my nose getting a little bit bigger. I feel disgusting."
Since Teresa is the face of the business, and the person that talks to the public when they attend these shows, the mother-daughter team are worried what this is going to mean for their future.
