Dr Dre admits NFL made 'minor changes' to Super Bowl halftime show as Eminem took a knee

Dr Dre has confessed his party went well into the night following the epic Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday featuring Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent.

He also admitted that the NFL did indeed ask the stars to tweak a few segments of their performance, which was labelled the best in Super Bowl history by Piers Morgan.

However, Dre said that Eminem taking the knee was something the Lose Yourself rapper had took upon himself to do and said he didn't hear anything about the NFL banning him from doing so.

Dre, 56, did admit that he was fully expecting the NFL to request more to be removed from their show during rehearsals and was surprised when they only asked for "minor changes".

Speaking to TMZ, the star said: "There were a few things that we had to change but it was like really minor things.

"Em taking the knee that was him doing that on his own and there was no problem with that."

And the NFL had also revealed earlier on Monday that they had not tried to stop Eminem from taking a knee.

"We watched all elements of the show during multiple rehearsals this week and were aware that Eminem was going to do that," league spokesman Brian McCarthy said.

The music star's actions went down well with fans on social media, with actor and podcast host Luis Miguel Echegaray among those commenting, saying: "This is it. Right here.

"Eminem takes a knee as Dr. Dre plays Tupac’s I ain’t mad at cha on the piano. Here’s when I lost it."

Dre went on to say that the NFL did have a problem with one of Kendrick's lyrics though, which led to them removing it from the set., but said it was "no big deal".

He continued: "All in all, everybody came in and was professional and on time. Everybody felt the magnitude of what this thing was and what we were able to accomplish.

"It was a fantastic experience."

The stars took to the stage at the eagerly anticipated halftime show as the Los Angeles Rams edged to victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Kanye West, who wasn't involved in the show but was in attendance with his kids, was roundly booed after appearing on the stadium's big screens.

The 44-year-old rapper wore a black mask which completely covered his face as he sat alongside North, eight, and Saint, six, who he shares with his estranged ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.

As the rapper's image was shown on the jumbotron, thousands of fans erupted into loud jeers just hours after the star had tore into Kim and her new love interest Pete Davidson on Instagram.
