The Democratic Republic of Congo has threatened Apple of legal action. Its lawyers accuse the tech giant of buying minerals smuggled from eastern Congo from mines, where human rights are violated by rebels,... into neighbouring Rwanda. Congo’s government is questioning Apple about its knowledge of what it's calling“blood minerals”.
The campaign in Togo ends this Sunday with an electoral silence period. This time, legislative and regional elections are combined to also appoint senators. The country's constitution change coincides with this campaign season. Elections are set for Monday April 29th. Once the Togolese president officially declares the new constitution, the country will shift to a parliamentary system, and legislative votes will replace presidential elections.
The eighth edition of so-called “French Week” has opened in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital Kinshasa. The event is organised by the Franco-Congolese Chamber of Commerce and aims to promote trade between the two countries. Local entrepreneurs see it as a chance to attract investors. Some of them have already started rolling out products in education technology.
