SEVERAL councils have announced that schools and nurseries will be shut after a red weather warning was issued.
The warning covers central Scotland as well as parts of Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.

Winds of up to 100mph are expected as Storm Eowyn batters the country with people having been urged not to travel.
John Swinney confirmed at FMQs that he would be chairing an emergency meeting to prepare for the severe weather.
The red weather warning will be in place from 10am tomorrow and last until 5pm tomorrow evening.
