Dozens of Glasgow Central train services face cancellations and delays causing rush hour chaos

Dozens of train services from Glasgow Central are facing cancellations and delays this morning. The disruption is set to cause rush hour chaos with train tickets being accepted on buses on some routes.

Due to a signalling fault, services between Central and a number of other stations, both nearby and further affield, are impacted.

Trains to and from East Kilbride, Barrhead, Kilmarnock, Carlisle via Dumfries, Girvan and Stranraer via Kilmarnock, Newton and Neilston may be delayed, revised or cancelled.

Alternative train routes are available on some lines, including Glasgow Central to Ayr (via Paisley) and Glasgow Central to Carlisle (via Lockerbie) – with Avanti West Coast and Transpennine Express.

Train tickets are being accepted on the Stagecoach West X76 Glasgow Central - Kilmarnock route, and McGills: 03: Glasgow - Barrhead, 51: Barrhead - Paisley, 54: Neilston - Paisley Gilmour Street and 337: Dunlop - Kilmarnock.

It's currently unclear when the issue will be resolved. Scotrail say you can keep up to date with affected routes via their Twitter page or their JourneyCheck page on their website, by clicking here.

A spokesperson for Network Rail Scotland said on their Twitter page: "We're dealing with a signalling fault near Glasgow Central affecting Barrhead, East Kilbride, Kilmarnock, Newton, and Neilston services, which are currently suspended.

"Working hard to fix and fix this fault ASAP and we're sorry if you're affected. More soon."
