Law enforcement officers in Los Angeles County have made nearly 50 arrests in neighborhoods affected by the Eaton and Palisades fires. The arrests are related to various charges such as looting, burglary, trespassing, vandalism, and drone incidents.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported 14 arrests within the city, with charges including curfew violations, impersonating a firefighter, possession of burglary tools, burglary, DUI, felony vandalism, and shoplifting.
Assistant Chief Dominic Choi emphasized that individuals found in the area without a valid reason will be stopped and questioned, and held accountable for any crimes committed.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office has made 34 arrests, including four in the Palisades fire area. Arrests were made for curfew violations and drone incidents, with specific incidents resulting in three arrests.
Authorities are cracking down on illegal drone flights after a drone collided with a firefighting aircraft, leading to its temporary grounding. Sheriff Robert Luna urged individuals to stay away from evacuation areas to allow first responders to carry out their work effectively.
