Downton Abbey: The New Era has officially hit the big screen. If you've already enjoyed a trip to the cinema, however, you may be wondering if a third movie is in the works.
A New Era is the second time the popular ITV period drama has been made into a feature-length film. It follows on from the series' first self-titled feature film, which aired in 2019.
There were three years between the first two movies, following a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, and those who've watched them all want to know if Allen Leech, Tuppence Middleton, and more will be reprising their roles again at some point.

So, will there be a Downton Abbey 3 ? While nothing has officially been confirmed, creator Julian Fellowes and the cast have hinted that it might not be the end.
Julian told the MailOnline: "In this business, it's very foolish not to give people what they want. I've said goodbye to these characters more times than I can number. Each time I think, 'This is the end, goodbye'. Then I'm writing another series or movie."
The cast is in agreement, with Joanne Froggatt, who plays Mrs Bates, telling Digital Spy: "I think if Julian still wants to write it and the audience still want to watch it, I think we'd all be very keen."
The Express.co.uk also points out that the second movie has moved into the early 1930s, which gives Julian a wealth of history to surround Downton Abbey in.
A New Era follows the Crawley family off to the south of France as Dame Maggie Smith's character Dowager Grantham revealed she had inherited a house there. Meanwhile, those remaining at the Downton estate are left managing the chaos as it's taken over by a Hollywood film crew.
