Tens of thousands of metalheads are expected to descend on Donington Park, the spiritual home of hard rock, for this summer’s Download Festival.
The three-day festival - which takes place from June 10th-12th - will feature headliners including Iron Maiden, Kiss and Biffy Clyro.
Download was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and a pilot event for 10,000 fans as the country edged out of Covid restrictions took place in 2021. It makes its much-anticipated return to a full event this year along with other major festivals including Glastonbury.

If you’re heading to Download this June, you might be wondering what to take with you. The festival’s organisers have compiled a list of items you can and can’t take.
What you can and can’t bring to Download Festival
According to Download Festival organisers, items banned from the festival include the following:
Glass
Fireworks/pyrotechnics
Illegal items and substances
Unidentifiable substances
New psychoactive substances (NPS)
Laser equipment/pens
Air horns and megaphones
Nitrous oxide and associated equipment (including balloons, CO2 dispensers and cream dispensers)
Sky or ‘Chinese’ lanterns
Unofficial tabards and hi-vis reflective jackets
Blow torches
Generators (except those fixed in camper vans)
Firewood
Aerosols over 250ml
Petrol burners
Any goods for unauthorised trading or with unauthorised event or artist logos
Any item that can reasonably be considered a potential weapon or which may cause danger, offence or disruption to any other person
Unauthorised buses, coaches or trucks
Drones
Excessive amounts of alcohol, food and cigarettes are also not allowed; under-18s are not allowed to bring alcohol or purchase it on site. No animals are permitted on site except for guide and hearing dogs.
Some other items, meanwhile, are banned from the arena itself:
Cans
Disposable barbecues and other stoves permitted as campsite camping equipment
Firewood
Flags
Large or open drinks bottles (sealed plastic soft drink or water bottles of under 500ml are permitted, however, as are empty reusable metal or plastic bottles of any size)
Photographic and recording equipment is permitted, provided it is for personal and non-commercial use. Professional recording equipment is not allowed.
Festivalgoers are warned that surrendered or confiscated items will not be returned afterwards, and anyone who resists confiscation of banned items will be evicted from the site.
