Owen Hargreaves has delivered his verdict on the Premier League title race after 'lucky' Manchester City snatched victory against Everton at Goodison Park.
With second-placed Liverpool on Carabao Cup duty this Sunday afternoon, the meeting with Everton gave City an opportunity to move six points clear at the top.
Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team managed exactly that on their trip to Merseyside. However, there was an element of fortune in them clinching that result.
England sensation Phil Foden netted the winner after 81 minutes, but there was further drama to come as Everton were denied a penalty when VAR rejected claims for handball against Rodri.
Liverpool, meanwhile, still have a game in hand on City.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, pundit Hargreaves said: "I have to be full of praise for Everton and how they played under a new manager. They put a lot of pressure on Man City. When you want to be a champion, you sometimes have to win ugly. They did that and got the job done.
"They played better in the second half and created more. It took something lucky to get the result, but City won't care. At the end of the season when you're lifting the trophy, these [games] are the ones that are so important for that race and he [Guardiola] will know that more than anyone."

Hargreaves added: "Liverpool have got incredible momentum and depth. They will be confident.
"Even being in touching distance of this brilliant City team, they can be really proud. It's going to go right down to the wire and I truly believe that it will go right down to the last game."
