DOUGLAS Ross was told off by the Presiding Officer for heckling John Swinney at First Minister’s Questions (FMQs).
The First Minister was hitting out at what he called a "very odd" line of questioning from the Scottish Tories after leader Russell Findlay questioned the SNP’s approach to trade with the United States.
It comes after Donald Trump slapped a 10% tariff on US imports of UK goods as he confirmed sweeping import levies on countries across the world.
“I find this line of questioning really very odd from a party that wants the Scottish Government to scale back,” Swinney hit back before being heckled by the former Tory leader.
The Presiding Officer then intervened, saying: ”Mr Ross, please adhere to our standing orders.”
The First Minister then continued: “I find this line of questioning absolutely bizarre because the Tories are the ones that demand that the Scottish Government close our international offices that are absolutely critical to the representation of Scotland abroad and the economic success of our country.”
He added: “I can assure Mr Findlay that, in all the Scottish Government does, we will take forward the interests of Scottish industry.
“We will look at the opportunities to promote our products overseas, and we'll stand shoulder to shoulder with the Scottish industry as we promote our important products to overseas markets.”
Later in FMQs, Swinney made a quip towards the Scottish Tory benches after another interruption.
“Tories believe in free speech unless it's me that's speaking," he said.
