DOUGIE IMRIE believes he can get Jai Quitongo back to his best after the forward sealed a return to Morton.
The 24-year-old started out at Cappielow before moving on for stints at Partick Thistle, Azerbaijani outfit Machine Sazi, Dumbarton and Queen’s Park before signing a one-year deal in Greenock.
Quitongo has not had his injury troubles to seek over the last few years but Imrie is confident the forward can put those issues behind him and contribute effectively at the Championship club.
“I’m pleased to bring Jai back to the club, he’s a player that brings a lot of pace and power to the front line and he obviously has a lot of previous experience in the Championship,” the Morton manager told the club’s website.
“He’s been unlucky over the past few seasons with injuries but he’s a player I’ve admired for a few years now and I have every confidence that he can start the season strong and be a real asset to us.”
Morton have also confirmed the addition of central midfielder Grant Gillespie on a one-year contract.
The 30-year-old – who counts Hamilton, Dundee United and Raith Rovers amongst his former clubs – left Queen’s Park at the end of the season after his contract with the Spiders expired.
