During a campaign fundraiser in Maine, Second gentleman Doug Emhoff responded to former President Donald Trump's false claims about Vice President Kamala Harris' racial heritage. Emhoff criticized Trump, calling him 'a worse version of an already horrible person' for his remarks. Emhoff emphasized that while the insults and misinformation were concerning, they were ultimately a distraction from the important issues at stake in the upcoming election.

Trump's false comments were made at a conference of Black journalists in Chicago, where he suggested that Harris 'happened to turn Black' only a few years ago, implying that she had changed her racial identity. In reality, Harris' mother was Indian, her father Jamaican, and both immigrated to the United States. Harris herself was born in Oakland, California, and attended Howard University, a historically Black institution in Washington, D.C.

Trump falsely suggests Harris changed her racial identity, ignoring her Indian and Jamaican heritage.
Emhoff condemns Trump's remarks as a distraction from crucial election issues.
Harris, the first female, Black, and Asian American VP, has a diverse background.

Kamala Harris made history as the first female, first Black, and first Asian American vice president of the United States. Despite the attempts to undermine her background, Harris has remained focused on her duties and responsibilities in office. Emhoff's response to Trump's false claims highlights the need to stay focused on the important issues facing the country rather than getting distracted by misinformation and personal attacks.
