Double Notts County exit confirmed as Ian Burchnall sends 'perspective' message

Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall said his players were disappointed with their defeat to Bromley but offered them "perspective" regarding their recent form.

The reverse to Bromley brought an eight-game unbeaten run to an end for the Magpies who sit just outside the play-off positions in the National League.

Burchnall says it is important to remain calm given Notts were one of the in-form teams in the division prior to their defeat at the weekend.

And with two games in hand on most games above them, they still have a great chance of challenging for the National League title and a return to the Football League following relegation in 2019.

While Notts' head coach is calm about the Magpies' position, he did admit they need to find a way to win games when they are not at their best.

"The players were disappointed but I tried to give them some perspective," he said.

"It was the first game in eight they have lost and we won six of them.

"It's very important not to panic. We know where are our top level.

"There are peaks and troughs throughout the season and we do not play perfectly in every game, no team does.

"But we should be better in terms of finding a way to get something from a game when we are not at our best.

"I was so disappointed with the goal we conceded because if we come in at 0-0 then we are still the aggressors in the game.

"I think they would have been delighted with 0-0 at half-time. That's why it was so frustrating because we did have the better of the first half."

Meanwhile, Wycombe winger Connor Parsons has left the club to return to the League One promotion-chasers after his loan spell came to an end.

The winger made just two league appearances for Notts with his last coming as a substitute in the goalless draw against Wealdstone last Tuesday.

The lack of game-time was not helped after the winger also contracted Covid.

Confirming his exit, Parsons wrote on Twitter: "Although it was frustrating at times having many games cancelled and catching Covid myself during my first loan spell, things don’t always go smoothly and that’s life.

"I wish Notts all the best in getting promoted this season and into the league where you deserve to be."

In other news, goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks has also joined Coalville Town on loan for the rest of the season.
