A motorist has been caught taking selfies behind the wheel after failing to notice the marked police car behind them in Aberdeen.
Officers say the man wanted to check the hair was out of his face while en-route to an appointment at a tanning salon on Monday night.
The offender was pulled over on the A947 near Dyce by officers from the North East Road Policing Unit who slapped him with a £200 fine and six penalty points on his licence.
A tweet from the force said: “For a moment the North East Road Policing Unit thought they were seeing the Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen.
“It turned out to be the flash of the driver in front taking selfies on the A947 at Dyce to make sure his hair was out of his face before he arrived at the tanning salon. 6 points and £200 fine.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “On the night of Monday, 20 March, 2023, Road Policing officers in Aberdeen stopped a car on the A947 at Dyce.
“One man was issued with a fixed penalty notice in connection with road traffic offences.”
